Medical Hypnosis Technique - What is it?

Medical hypnosis is a psychological method that guides a person into a state of deep relaxation and concentration. This altered state of consciousness allows access to subconscious content, making the individual more receptive to suggestions that promote personal transformation.

People often experience this trance as a profound sense of relaxation, which brings inner calm. Some may fear that they could do something they would later regret while in this state, but this concern is unnecessary—by focusing on the therapist’s voice, the hypnotized person actually guides and manages their own trance state. If there is too much tension, they can simply open their eyes to end the trance.

Research has shown that the brains of hypnotized individuals are similar to those of people in a meditative state. In both cases, the person is focused inward, observing their own thoughts. However, in a trance state, the individual maintains attention on their thoughts and emotions while following suggestions, allowing them to experience themselves in a new way.

Medical hypnosis is performed by a qualified professional who is either a psychologist or physician and has completed all the required courses in medical hypnosis to become a certified medical hypnosis therapist through the Slovenian Society for Medical Hypnosis or any other association.
